Lesson Plan w/ Reflection

Technology Lesson Plan

Tierra Roberson

Fourth Grade

Education Technology

       I.            Overview and Background-

Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of multiplication and division through technology.  The students have been practicing multiplication and division for the last two weeks.  The students will show their understanding by first doing a worksheet with various problems including multiplication and division.  The students should know the place value for long division and the times tables to complete long multiplication. This is important for the students to express what they know and use technology to help them showcase their knowledge. The students will log on to their ZapZap Math app and do the assessment assigned.

    II.            Objectives-

Students will be able to demonstrate multiplication and division.

Students will be able to implement their knowledge of division and multiplication on the ZapZap Math app.

 III.            Lesson Plan/Activities-

Students will review time tables and multiplication and long division.

They will complete a simple yet challenging worksheet that follows along with the Math app

Each student will be assigned a game to play on the app the showcase his/her full understanding of multiplication and division.

The students will show me the final results he/she made on the ZapZap Math app.

 IV.            Skills Learned-

·         Memory

·         Adding/subtracting/

·         Multiplying 3 digit place values/long division

V. Duration of Lesson- This activity should take about 30 minutes. The students will have 10 minutes to review. They will have the rest of the time to complete the app assignment.

VI. Reflection – The overall lesson was very productive. This method I chose to use to incorporate my curriculum with technology proved to be effective. My students were given the chance to showcase his/her understanding of adding and subtracting and how it is a key to solving long division. Since I know student love to use apps and games, the idea of using Zap Zap math was a great idea on my part. The students were excited to see what the website had in store for them. The only thing I would change about the lesson is the way it is presented.  I need to work on not rushing my students to come up with answer. I need to allow them to have time to process the new meaning and ideas and how they combine together. The pedagogical content was decent.  The students were able to show case their prior knowledge through the questions I asked them. The students were able to do hands-on learning. This strategy is useful when trying to keep the classroom engaged on the learning. The website/app helps me with instruction because the way the games break down math problems is how I break down math problems individually with my students. The technology is just extra practice the students can have fun doing. I gave the students worksheets to complete.  This is another form of extra practice with adding/subtracting and multiplication/long division.  This was solely to keep the minds working and remembering with repetition.

  1. Your lesson went very well! I like that when you started your lesson you began with a review of the "previous lesson" you and your class had gone over! The website that you used really helped me to understand the new grouping process that is used for the core curriculum! Great Job!
